Morzine is a great base to explore the numerous sights and places of interest in this region of the Alps. A true lakes and mountains experience can be had with a short picturesque  journey with historic sites, amazing views great restaurants and shopping. There are too many choices to mention them all but here are a few ideas:

Geneva
Everybody knows that Geneva is the best place on the planet if you're looking to buy a luxury watch - or indeed some rather delicios chocolate. But what most people don't realise is that when the sun comes out, the lake comes to life. From the early-morning stand-up paddleboarders to the pleasure cruisers pootling around, the water is abuzz with activity; while on dry land, locals gather at the urban beach or take in a movie at the outdoor cinema.

Yvoire
This medieval village on the banks of Lake Geneva was a site of many historical battle. Now a four star village of flowers it has tourists flocking to see the beauty, excellent restaurants and variety of shops

Annecy
One of the most beautiful towns in France on the banks of lake Annecy and with rivers and waterways flowing through the old town. Great shopping, restaurants and boat trips out on the lake.

Chamonix
Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car on the side of Mont Blanc to a viewing platform at 3800m altitude

Chateau de Chillon
At Montreux at the Swiss end of Lake Geneva with magnificent views along the Rhone Valley. Tours show the whole castle including dungeons where Lord Byron was imprisoned. From Montreux you can also takethe Swiss mountain train to a wildlife sanctuary 2000 metres above lake Geneva with incredible views across Switzerland and France.

Gorge du Pont du Diable
Take a tour of this impressive gorge with walkways which will give you access to all areas of the gorge formed over millions of years.

Paddle steamer from Evian to Lausanne
From the elegant town of Evian take the vintage paddle steamer across lake Geneva to the City of Lausanne. The beautiful and vibrant lakefront promenade of Lausanne has excellent restaurants, parks for children and the Olympic museum.

Aqua Parc
At Le Bouveret at the Swiss end of Lake geneva, this indoor and outdoor water park has something for all ages. There are 8 waterslides, mini-slides, lazy river and pirate ship for toddlers with baby slides. There is also an adult only area with poolside bar and restaurant, types types of sauna and steam room, massage and gym.
